Resident Doctors of the National Eye
Centre in Kaduna have resumed an
earlier suspended strike over non-
payment of skipping allowances.
The President, Association of Resident
Doctors, National Eye Centre Chapter,
Dr. Dawa Sambo said the strike
commenced April 1, 2014 in line with
the directive given by the Nigerian
Medical Association (NMA) which
ordered, all local affiliates to ensure the
implementation of payment of
allowances to doctors in their hospitals.
Dr. Sambo wondered why medical
doctors were sidelined in the payment of
allowances by management of the Eye
Centre while other health workers are
enjoying the same allowance.
According to the union, the strike was
the last resort for them, as all other
measures to make the hospital
management pay their allowances had
failed.
The doctors have vowed not to resume
work until their entitlements are paid.
